Festival Essentials

Are you festival ready yet? If not, don’t worry; here at Charlies we have put together our line-up of must have essentials for any festival.

Festival Style: Fashionable & Practical

Whether the sun is shining with blue skies for days, or it’s raining cats and dogs, with these picks you’ll be prepared for both but look your best too. Festivals are all about wearing bright and bold colours and this year’s runways are full of them, especially yellow and pink. Hunter has a brilliant range of brightly coloured accessories which are practical for the  unpredictable weather.

If a festival in the UK could be summed up with one item, it would be… wellies! Whatever the weather, mud is always a key feature at festivals; keep your feet warm and dry whilst also looking super stylish with the Hunter wellies available in yellow, pink and other colours too.

A lightweight raincoat is a must have at a festival, keeping you sheltered from the occasional downpours and warm from winds. The  Hunter Original lightweight Jackets come in both the pink and yellow colours; featuring handy pockets for a phone, disposable camera, extra glitter and more. Its super Lightweight design means you can stylishly tie it around your waist if the sun comes out to party with you. If a raincoat is not your style the quirky moustache umbrella is for you!

Making sure you have your phone, money and any more valuables kept on you is super important if you’re staying in a tent. For easy transport to and from the stage  the small Hunter Kid’s bags are great; they’ll match your outfit too in the yellow and pink. Although they are a kids bag it’ll still fit as the straps are adjustable. Many festivals have restrictions on bag sizes in the stage area, so this small bag is perfect!

Home from Home: Which tent is best for you?

At Charlies, we offer a lot of tents with a variety of sizes; from 1 – 8 man we will have a tent made for your group of festival friends. Whether you like the luxury of plenty of space to get ready and socialise with friends or just want a functional space to crash and catch the occasional 40 winks, we have a variety of tents for your festival home from home.

Make the search for a plot fuss-free with a nice lightweight tent; the Coleman Kobuk Valley 2 Tent  is perfect for smaller parties and is super easy and quick to set up allowing you to enjoy the festival quicker. the convenient porch-like extension at the front is great for storing your muddy attire, allowing you to keep your bed clean and cosy.

The Wild Camping Idris 4 Tent is a create space saving tent, small enough to carry around, easy to set up and features a generous sized living space/ bedroom. Store all your muddy clothes and luggage in the front area and make the bedroom pod super comfortable. This tent is great for a party of four, or a smaller group who just want a little more space.

The Coleman Cortes Octagon 8 Tent which is in a stunning orange is great for  bigger groups or for those who like to have the luxury of extra space. While bigger tents may be heavier to take to the desired plot, will leave you thanking your lucky stars when it starts to rain; socialise with friends in your own private space and  keep muddy clothing separate from your bedding but keep them dry at the same time! Also the bright orange colour is perfect for when you’re trying to find your bed among a sea of tents; head to the bright one!

Sleeping Accessories: Glamping or Camping?

Make your bedding area as comfy as the bed you’re leaving at home! It’s important that you get the best night sleep possible to ensure you have the most energy during the day; walking from stage to stage is a lot of exercise.

The best solution is a camping mat; super easy to carry and set up and it will give you a comfy night’s sleep. Highlander offer two camping mats both super comfortable and lightweight. The Highlander Camper Mat is  simple and hard wearing, to last you all festival season and the  Highlander Comfort Camper Mat offers that extra cushioning.

If you require a little more than a foam cushioning, we offer some fabulous, easy to set up air beds form Bestway; both single and double, these inflatable mattresses will make you feel right at home. They’re also great to use as a festival sunbed too!

Bedding is also a must have, to keep you warm during the cool summer evenings. Our favourites are the Vango Wilderness 250 Sleeping Bag’s in both Coral and Cobalt;  nice and cosy and they are super easy to transport from festival to car.

If you want some added luxury, pillows are a must have too; the Vango Large Square Pillow is super plush and you’ll probably want to use it at home, but if you want a quick solution the handy Inflatable Pillow from Summit is perfect.

Camping Chairs: Take a Seat

Lounging around the camping area whilst waiting for your favourite artist to perform is a common occurrence. During this time you’ll probably be socialising with friends and tent neighbours, grabbing a bite to eat or practising the lyrics to the headlining act. Why not make it comfortable with  a convenient collapsible chair.

The Wild Camping Chair in Blue is great for festival lounging,  and the netted drinks holder is perfect for that refreshing summer  drink whether it be water or cider. If saving space is more your thing, the Micro Chair from Wild Camping is just as comfortable too.

Bags and Trolleys: Packing everything but the kitchen sink?

And finally, the most dreaded part of the festival…lugging all of your things around to ensure you get the perfect pitch; not too near the portaloos and very close to the stage entrance.

The must have accessory is a camping trolley this festival season; making transportation easier and a lot more convenient. The strong and durable Trolley from Summit is great; chuck all your luggage and belongings onto the heavy duty frame and fasten with some string or wire for safety. Nothing will stop you from getting first dibs on the perfect pitch.

If you need a little more durability, this collapsible Outwell Cancun Transporter will be envied by everyone around. Long gone will be the days of struggling across the uneven terrain of a festival field; the large wheels on this buggy-like model will have you gliding past the queue.

If you pack light you’re definitely an experienced festival goer and we envy you, however, Charlies still have a couple of convenient holdalls for your organised-self. The Highlander Cargo Holdall, boasts an abundance of space for all of your needs and the Vango Explorer II 60 +10 rucksack  is great for when you have more valuable things to carry in hand.

With a variety of solutions for any weather situation, you’ll be more than prepared for this festival season.
