AW25 Men’s Style Guide: Everyday Trends You’ll Actually Wear

The Weather’s About to Turn—So Should Your Wardrobe

Summer’s over. Autumn’s here and Winter's coming. Your wardrobe’s about to change... But let's see if we can get you looking the part this season without any fashion faux pas.

While we've been blessed this summer with long hot dry spells, which has allowed the shorts and sandals combo to be socially accepted everywhere, apart from weddings, with rain on the horizon and temperatures staring to dip back down to 'comfortable' levels, it's time to put the flip-flops away and look towards something a little more snug.

But if you've opened your wardrobe and found half of your winter wardrobe no longer fits, maybe due to too many barbecues, or your partner has deemed that they wouldn't be seen with you in, what you describe as, your 'best' shirt, then maybe it's time for a refresh. But if, like me, you don't know your Barbour from your Prada, or, that cerulean coloured jumper isn't just a 'blue jumper', don't panic.

We've collected the best new lines from all our brands for this season and broken them down so you can look on-trend, right up until spring. While these looks won't get you on the runway in Paris or in a Vogue shoot in Milan, they will be deemed stylish enough so you can be allowed at the house and amongst the public, without someone calling the Fashion Police.

The Colours Doing All the Talking This Season

If your wardrobe's like mine, then it's probably a little on the dark side. 50 shades of grey, blacks and blues, are the staple of any guys' wardrobe, and honestly there's nothing wrong with that as these colours never go out of style, and while I don't expect you to go out and buy the brightest and loudest coloured shirt you can find (Put the Hawaiian shirt down!), this season gives us permission to step oust of our safety net and add some subtle pops of colour to freshen our looks without moving too far out of our comfort zone.

This year, forest greens, burgundy and earthy warm tones like caramel, chestnut and chocolate brown are leading the way. These shades are effortlessly versatile, and layer perfectly together.

A burgundy knit against a pair of brown chinos works just as well for the office Christmas meal as it does for dinner with your partner, while a forest green hoodie teamed with dark indigo denim jeans is perfect for those off-duty weekends when comfort is just as important as style.

Even something as simple as throwing an olive quilted jacket over a cream tee gives you an instantly updated autumn-ready look that still feels easy.

Look, I know you love a black t-shirt, and it's hard to pick between all 30 of them just which one is your absolute favourite, but there's a whole spectrum of colour to explore. Brighten up those dull grey dark days with a colourful tee to add a pop of colour to any outfit, or pick one with a graphic print to add some depth.

But it's not just about going darker, though. Winter whites, soft stone tones, and creamy neutrals are becoming key players this season, helping to brighten up those grey winter days while keeping your outfit looking polished and fresh. Layering a stone hoodie under a charcoal shacket, for example, instantly lifts your look without making it feel too stark or bold. And if you’re not quite ready to experiment fully, you can start small by introducing little accents of colour, think a mustard beanie, a rust-toned scarf, or trainers with a subtle burgundy trim. It’s a quick and low-effort way to add personality to your everyday wardrobe.

If you want to keep things simple, there are a few fail-safe colour pairings worth leaning on this season. Combinations like navy and camel, charcoal and burgundy, olive and cream, or stone and chestnut brown will never let you down, making outfit building quick and effortless. Whether it’s a burgundy knit, an olive puffer, or a stone-toned hoodie, AW25’s colour palette makes it easy to mix and match pieces you’ll wear on repeat, and the best part is, you don’t need to reinvent your whole wardrobe to make it work, which saves you from the dreaded shopping trip.

Layers That Won't Make You Look Like The Michelin Man

When it comes to thinking about clothing for the colder seasons, the first thing that springs to mind is layers. While you don't need as many layers as an ogre, you do need enough layers to be prepared for the British weather, which, let's face it, never plays fair. Rain, hail, sun, snow, all in one afternoon? Absolutely.

Layering isn’t just practical though, it’s also your secret weapon for making outfits feel effortless and pulled-together. Heading out for the evening? Throw on a long sleeve check shirt over a tee, that's reminiscent of the grunge era. Because rock & roll never dies.

Paired with light brown trousers and chunky boots, it may look like you've just come from an afternoon chopping wood, but it's a timeless, lumberjack inspired look that works just as well as it did 30 years ago...yes THIRTY years ago.

For crisper mornings, you’ll want something a little more substantial, and this is where the shacket earns its keep. Half shirt, half jacket, it's perfect for throwing on over a hoodie when you're up early to walk the dog, making the coffee run or heading out to meet the lads down the pub, without feeling bulky.

Most have a quilted or fleece lining for that extra bit of warmth, along with multiple pockets, making them practical too, ideal for stashing your keys, phone, and wallet (because honestly, what else do you really need?).

Meeting the in-laws for Sunday lunch? While I can't help you have a good time, I can at least make you presentable so you don't look like you've been dragged through a hedge backwards. If long sleeve shirts are a little too formal, then a smart quarter zip fleece over a short sleeve shirt or tee, paired with a pair of Chelsea boots will go down the storm.

If it's a more casual affair, but your partner reckons your hoodie and joggers combo is an absolute no, a simple round neck jumper will not only hide the 2-day old t-shirt, but can flatten your silhouette, hiding the beer belly. You can also throw it on over a shirt for a more refined casual look, making it look, at least to the untrained eye, you've put a bit of effort in, which is sure to win you some favours, especially with the MIL.

Here Comes The Rain...

With the change of the seasons, comes the change in the weather. Rain, rain and more rain are unfortunately the order of the day, so it's time to dig out the winter coats and jackets to keep the worst of the weather at bay. While you don't need one that can stop a flood in its tracks or has more bells and whistles than a Swiss army knife, you will need something to keep the British weather at bay.

Packable jackets are ideal for the modern man on the go. Easy to slip into a bag or pocket, these lightweight jackets won't weigh you down as you go about your day, perfect for when you're caught out in an unexpected shower. But if on the other hand it's hammering down, and you've got to go out, then a softshell jacket is going to keep the worst of the weather at bay.

Taped seams, adjustable hoods and breathable fabrics will keep you comfortable and dry until you reach your destination...or find shelter depending on where you are. If, on the other hand, it's a rare sunny day, but the temperature barely reaches double digits, a classic puffer jacket or quilted jacket, is going to add some much-needed warmth without you feeling overheated.

Too dry for a coat, but not warm enough to go coatless? A padded gilet can add that little bit of extra warmth to your outfit, as well as keeping everything looking neat and tidy. Throwing it on over a shirt, jumper or fleece, instantly creates a country inspired look that looks at home in a pub. Plus, if it's showerproof, you'll have a little bit of protection if the heavens suddenly open before you find shelter.

Heading out for evening but need that extra layer just in case? A casual jacket not only looks smart, but it'll give you that little bit of protection just in case. If you want to make that little bit more of an effort, then opt for a waxed jacket. Smart enough for any occasion, they're rugged enough to shrug off the British Weather and are a timeless classic that can pair with anything.

But if you don't fancy looking like you've just parked the Land Rover across two spaces, then making its return is the Denim Jacket. While we're not quite at the double denim or even triple denim outfit stage yet, the denim jacket is a worthy staple to keep close this season. Pair with a simple tee or check shirt for a lived in look that's sure to please...just leave the Stetson and cowboy boots at home.

Sole Mates for Every Outfit

There's nothing worse than heading out in your best white trainers and instantly stepping in mud, forever making them 'off-white' rather than gleaming white. I hate to say it, but it's time to leave the canvas trainers and sandals behind, or at the very least at the back of the wardrobe until the weather improves. While trainers are perfect as an everyday staple, they might not be best for the office, restaurant, or autumnal walk.

Chunky lace-up boots are making a comeback in a big way, meaning they're not just for the goths anymore! Paired with jeans or chinos, the 'military' style boot adds a bold edge to any outfit. Their high, chunky heel help when things get a little icy and can shrug off the worst of the British weather.

But if you need something a bit more subtle and not feel like you're walking on stilts, then a smart Dealer or Chelsea boot is a must for those nights out with friends and loved ones, plus they're as versatile as they are stylish, being easy to pair with literally anything.

There’s something about pulling on a pair of smart shoes that instantly makes you feel more put-together, even if you’ve spent the last hour debating whether you can get away with wearing your favourite hoodie to dinner with the in-laws (If it's not clean, then NO!). This season, smart footwear isn't just for weddings and the conference room any more. It’s about shoes that look sharp but work across multiple outfits, whether you’re heading into the office, grabbing drinks, or dressing up for the weekend.

Slip on a pair of Chelsea boots for a sleek, timeless pick that make it look like you’ve made an effort without really trying. Brogues are back in a big way this season, too. Personally I'm not a fan of a brogue shoe, however with their signature perforated detailing and polished look, they're an easy upgrade to your workwear or smart-casual outfits. Pair a classic leather brogue with tailored trousers and a crisp shirt for an office-ready outfit, or dress them down with a fine-knit jumper and slim-fit jeans for a weekend meal out.

If you're just pottering about the house and the idea of cold feet is a big nope, then a lined house shoe or slipper is going to be your friend. But wait, aren't slippers and house slippers the same thing? Oh, my sweet summer child, no. While the classic slipper will have a cosy lining to keep toes nice and snug, they are better suited to carpets and not your polished wooden floors. A house shoe, while not having the cosy lining, will have the structured support and solid footbed you need to get a round the house without sliding into the living room like Torvil & Dean. Just don’t take it a step too far by forgetting you’re wearing them to the shops.

But wait! What about a combination of the two? A shoe that has the cosy lining of a slipper but the support and grip of the house shoe? Enter, the lined clogs.

While it won't win any awards for style, it's going to keep feet warm and snug, even when the weather outside is frightful, plus they're ideal for nipping outside briefly if you need to grab something from the garage or postbox, thanks to their durable construction and grippy soles.

Finish Strong: Small Details, Big Style Impact

Your accessories may be subtle, or non-existent, but this season they're the secret sauce that ties everything together, working just as hard as your jacket.

Let's start with the classic combo: hat, scarf, gloves. Boom, instantly, you're not only going to be warm and cosy, but they're going to compliment your outfit this season. Picking a beanie or woolly hat in this season's colours (see...you're learning) is instant going to elevate your outfit.

But if it's not that cold enough for a classic woolly hat or beanie, then a peaked flat cap or baker boy hat can not only add that little bit of protection, but adds some character to your outfit...just don't pretend you're in Peaky Blinders.

Wool scarves in checks and seasonal tones (again, think earthy greens & browns), bring a refined polished look to any outfit and are ideal for tucking under a coat or jacket to help keep the warmth in place. While gloves usually come in darker colours, you simply can't head out on a frosty morning without them.

With black and navy still the go-to colour for gloves, opt for a charcoal or khaki coloured pair to add some seasonal depth to your outerwear, plus if everyone's got a black pair of gloves, how will you know which is yours?

Socks, while the last thing you probably think about, are the first thing you grab in the morning. And while no-one's going to be staring at your feet, it doesn't mean that they have to be boring. What was once an understated and forgotten piece of clothing is now a bold finishing touch that can add personality to your outfit.

Bright colours, vibrant patterns & cheeky slogans are a fun way to stand out amongst the crowd, but if you think your 'Sock it too them' slogan might not be ideal for that big meeting, then a classic two-tone sock or ones with an embroidered motif are perfect to add a little charm, while breaking up the block colours.

One trend for this season that I personally didn't expect is the re-emergence of the cross body bag. No, this doesn't mean you can dust off the bumbag that screams 80s fashion and is in more colours than a Rubik's Cube. The cross body bag has reinvented itself and has now become a sleek, fashionable accessory for the modern man.

Ideal for when you're carrying more than what you can store, or you don't want your wallet and keys bulging out your pockets, in simple block colours that can either seamlessly blend in with your outfit for a discreet finishing touch, or be loud and proud, the cross body bag can do all your heavy lifting, roomy enough for your Kindle, iPad, phone, travel passes and more, but still subtle enough as not to overshadow your clothing.

Finally, a brief mention about...well, briefs. Yes alright no-one other than your partner, well maybe the cat or dog, is going to see them, but let's be honest you've got be comfortable. Breathable fabrics in neutral tones are back in this season, but there's no harm in wearing a bright-coloured pair when the mood takes you.

Band free, seamless boxers with a snug *ahem* pouch are going to offer you a lot more comfort, plus they're not going to suddenly ride up making for an uncomfortable, but very awkward untangle. Just make sure you throw out the pair that's got more holes than a colander, please, for all our sakes.
