How Do I Re-Wax My Barbour Jacket?
You Will Need:
Barbour Wax | Pan/Bowl | Hot Water | Sponge/Rag
Step 1: Start by wiping down the outside of your jacket using cold water and a sponge. Avoid using hot water or any soap, as this can damage the wax coating. Never wash your wax jacket in a washing machine, as it will remove the wax finish completely and make re-waxing impossible.
Step 2: Remove the lid from your Barbour Wax Thornproof Dressing and place the tin in a container of hot water for about 20 minutes. The water should be hot enough to melt the wax into a smooth, liquid consistency.
Step 3: Using a clean cloth, sponge, or soft rag, evenly apply the melted wax to your jacket. Focus on areas that typically show more wear, such as seams, folds, and dry patches. Be careful to avoid the corduroy collar, the inside lining, and the inside of the pockets. Wipe away any excess wax as you go.
Step 4: Once you've finished applying the wax, hang your jacket in a warm, dry place overnight. Keep it away from other garments or upholstery, as the jacket may shed some excess wax while drying.
Step 5: It is recommended to re-wax your jacket once a year (depending on how often it is worn), to allow it to last for years to come.
