How Do I Re-Wax My Barbour Jacket?
You Will Need:
Barbour Wax | Pan/Bowl | Hot Water | Sponge/Rag
Step 1: Clean your jacket using cold water and wipe down the outside of the jacket with a sponge. Avoid using hot water and any kind of soap. Never put your wax jacket in the washing machine as this will strip the wax coating completely, and it cannot be rewaxed.
Step 2: Remove the lid of your Barbour Wax Thornproof Dressing and stand the tin in a container of hot water for around 20 minutes. The water should be hot enough to melt the wax into a liquid consistency.
Step 3: Using an old cloth, rag or sponge, work the melted wax well into the jacket. It is important to pay particular attention to seams, creases and dry patched on your jacket. Wipe off any excess wax. Ensure you keep the wax away from the corduroy collar, the inside of the jacket and inside of the pockets.
Step 4: After you have re-waxed your jacket, hang it up and allow to dry overnight in a warm place, away from other garments. Your jacket may lose excess wax for a short while, so it is best to be stored away from other leather or upholstery.
Step 5: It is recommended to re-wax your jacket once a year (depending on how often it is worn), to allow it to last for years to come.
