When the weather turns wet but stays mild, the Shires Tempest Original Lite Turnout Rug – Teal is a dependable choice for everyday turnout. Designed as a lightweight turnout rug, it keeps your horse dry and comfortable without overheating, making it ideal for changeable spring, summer, and early autumn conditions.
Cut deep through the body for good coverage, this Shires turnout rug features a tough yet lightweight 600 denier ripstop outer that stands up well to regular field wear. The ShireTex® fabric technology offers reliable waterproofing while remaining breathable, helping your horse stay comfortable whether they’re grazing or moving about. Fully taped seams and a DWR (durable water repellent) finish provide extra reassurance in persistent drizzle or sudden showers.
Practical features make this rug easy to live with day to day. The adjustable buckle chest straps allow for a secure, tailored fit, while the adjustable cross surcingles help keep the rug sitting correctly. A fillet strap and tail flap add extra stability and protection, and the smooth fully lined interior helps prevent rubbing for comfortable all-day wear.
This lightweight turnout rug is also WarmaRug compatible, meaning you can easily increase the warmth by adding separate liners in 100g or 200g as the seasons change — a handy option for unpredictable British weather. Made from 100% polyester (excluding fittings) and finished PFC free, it’s a practical, good-value choice for everyday turnout.

We are pleased to offer FREE standard delivery when you spend over £75. For next day delivery, order before 6pm and select next working day delivery at the checkout.
If your order is under £75, a small delivery charge of £3.99, £5.99 or £9.95 will apply depending on the size and weight of the order.
Big and bulky items may be delivered in a couple of different ways:
On a pallet (kerbside only) - our courier will contact you to organise a day you'll be home for delivery.
With a 2-person delivery service - our friendly team will contact you to book in a delivery day of your choice.
Some items come straight from our suppliers and may take a little longer to arrive. If that’s the case, we’ll make sure it’s clearly shown on the product page.
Returns
We really hope you love what you ordered, but if you change your mind, you’ve got 28 days from the day you bought it to return it.
Please make sure the item is unused and in its original packaging with any tags and labels attached. Please pop a note inside with your name and order details on it so we can locate your order.
We don’t offer free returns as we try to keep our prices as low as possible for everyone, depending on the size of the return we will deduct the cost from your refund. The returns process is really easy, you can post it back yourself or we can help you arrange a collection.
Once your return reaches our warehouse we'll process the refund back to your original payment method.
