About Us
Coed-y-Dinas is one of eight stores that make up Charlies Stores. Spanning over 70,000 sq. ft., it’s home to our Garden Centre, Country Store, and Charlies Ag & Turf—our official John Deere dealership. Originally the ‘home farm’ for Powis Castle, Coed-y-Dinas played a vital role in supplying everything needed to run the estate at its peak. Purchased in 2002, this flagship store sits on land with history dating back to 1720. During restoration, great care was taken to preserve its unique character, retaining many of its original features. Nestled in the heart of rural Powys, we have a deep appreciation for the Great British countryside. This passion is reflected in our carefully curated product range and our ongoing work within the community. Whilst here, why not make a day of it and take advantage of some of the beautiful scenery and endless range of things to do and see.
Garden Centre
From clothing & footwear, plants and kitchenware to garden furniture, pets and gifts, you can be sure you’ll get what you came for in our Garden Centre, and at a great price. Our staff are on hand in every department with their expertise to help you explore our range of products. Also, home to our fantastic Howards restaurant, join us for a hearty breakfast, a delicious lunch, or simply a coffee and cake break. Renowned for our spectacular Christmas displays, we offer a truly festive day out, complete with singing animatronics, late-night shopping, themed evenings, special events, and plenty of photo opportunities you won’t want to miss!
Country Store
Located right next to our Garden Centre, our Country Store is your go-to destination for all things rural. From agricultural feeds and machinery to ride-on mowers, tools, workwear, and wellingtons, we’ve got everything you need. Explore our equestrian, shooting, and fishing departments, where our knowledgeable team shares a genuine passion for their products. Whether you’re looking for expert guidance on choosing the right lawn mower or need a perfectly fitted riding hat, our Country Store is here to help you embrace the perfect country lifestyle.
Howards Restaurant
Whether you’re craving a hearty breakfast, a light lunch, or simply a coffee and a slice of homemade cake, our spacious 200-seat restaurant is the perfect place to relax. All our food is freshly prepared to order. We take great care in sourcing quality produce and keeping it local wherever possible. And the best part? With plenty of seating available, there’s no need to book—just turn up, and we’ll find you a table!

Charlie Chuckles
Our indoor play area, situated just off the restaurant, is a firm favourite with the children. Let them burn off some energy while you relax, have a coffee or have a natter.

Monday-Saturday 9am – 3:45pm
Sunday - 10am - 2.45pm
£2 per child.
PLEASE NOTE: Sessions are 45 minutes long and start on the hour. Adult supervision is required. Height restrictions also apply. Maximum capacity 20 children. No food or drink is allowed in the play area.
Children’s Party Bookings
Book your child’s party at Coed-y-Dinas – play in Charlie Chuckles until lunch is ready to be served! Birthday cake can be arranged and will be delivered to your table on schedule, adding to the excitement!

Do you allow dogs in store?
Only assistance dogs are permitted in store.
Whilst we and many other people love dogs, it is important for us to consider the safety and comfort of all our customers. We also always ensure our policies are in line with health & safety guidelines, which unfortunately means that the store is not of a suitable layout to safely monitor both the number of dogs in store, and provide fair access for all customers.
