Celebrating One Year of Charlies in Cheltenham

Charlies Cheltenham Celebrates Its First Birthday!
It’s hard to believe it’s already been a whole year since we opened the doors to our Cheltenham store!
Back in October 2025, Charlies arrived on Tewkesbury Road, marking an exciting milestone as our first store in Gloucestershire and our first outside Wales and the border counties.
Twelve months later, we’re delighted to be celebrating our first birthday – and what a year it’s been!
A Big Thank You, Cheltenham!
From the moment we opened, we’ve received such a warm welcome from local customers, families, schools and businesses.
Whether you’ve visited us for something for the garden, picked up a new pair of wellies, browsed our outdoor living range or simply popped in to see what Charlies is all about, we’ve loved welcoming you.
As an independent, family-run business, that local support means a great deal to us.
A Busy First Year
There have been plenty of highlights along the way, including our Garden Machinery Weekend, where customers could watch demonstrations and chat with our knowledgeable team, and our Big Garden Party Weekend, packed with garden furniture, BBQs, pizza ovens, exclusive offers, giveaways and refreshments.
We’ve also loved getting out into the local community. The team had a fantastic time at the Moreton-in-Marsh Show, meeting local people and introducing even more of Gloucestershire to Charlies.
Supporting Our Local Community
One of the proudest moments of our first year was giving away more than 1,000 plants to local schoolchildren, encouraging youngsters to get outside and discover the fun of gardening.
We’ll be continuing our support this Christmas by giving Christmas trees to 10 local schools, with more details coming soon.
There’s also plenty to look forward to in-store, including our upcoming Christmas Weekend, bringing festive inspiration, seasonal shopping and plenty of Christmas cheer to Charlies Cheltenham.
One Year in Cheltenham, 40 Years of Charlies
Our Cheltenham store’s first birthday is even more special as 2026 also marks 40 years of Charlies.
Founded in Mid Wales in 1986, Charlies has grown over the last four decades while remaining proudly independent and family run. Opening in Cheltenham was an exciting new chapter for us, and we couldn’t have wished for a warmer welcome.
“Cheltenham was an exciting and important next step for Charlies, and we could not have wished for a warmer welcome. We have loved getting to know the local community, welcoming customers to our events and working with local schools.
“As we celebrate both our first year in Cheltenham and 40 years of Charlies, we are incredibly proud to call the town home. We look forward to being part of the Cheltenham community for many more years to come.”
– Becky Lloyd, MD at Charlies
Here’s to Year Two!
To everyone who has visited, shopped with us, joined us for an event or simply stopped for a chat during our first year – thank you!
We’re incredibly proud of our first year in Cheltenham and can’t wait to see what year two brings.
