Josie's walk up Cadair Idris

There's nothing more enjoyable than a day trip to climb up a mountain and standing up at the top and looking out at the amazing views. On my latest trip to Cadair Idris, I was lucky the sun was shining and the clouds had cleared. Despite the nice forecast, I had everything on hand that I might need should the weather take a turn for the worst at the top, or if I happened to get into any trouble.

As any keen hiker or walker will know, you need to be prepared before heading out into the great outdoors. The UK weather can make this part a bit tricky and with the 'summer' we're currently having, you need to be prepared for anything!

When I'm heading out for a hike or walk I like to ensure I'm well prepared with the appropriate clothing (I'm talking walking fleeces and sweatshirts as well as walking trousers and walking boots, kit and snacks. During a long hike the last thing I want to be dealing with is aching feet because I wore the wrong shoes or being soaked because I didn't pack my waterproof coat! A very important part of any hike for me, is getting to sit down for some lunch at the top! When you're out walking for a long its important to refuel and stay hydrated, I always take my trusty water bottle and some lunch I pack in handy food storage containers. Last time I went I even treated myself to a cup of tea at the top with a portable camping stove, an absolute treat!

When out walking safety is very important, particularly when I'm heading up a mountain as you can never be too careful.
