Tree Decorating 101: How to Choose the Perfect Theme, Arrange Ornaments, and Create the Ideal Holiday Look for Your Christmas Tree
It's time to transform your home into a winter wonderland because the most wonderful time of the year has arrived. In my eyes, it's never too early to decorate for Christmas, especially if it brings you joy. Whether you decide to decorate at the start of November or on Christmas Eve, this guide will provide you with all of our favourite ways to get your home ready for Christmas.
Choosing Your Tree
The focal point of your home throughout the festive period; your Christmas Tree. Whether your preference is real or artificial, decorating your Christmas Tree is often a family occasion for you to all enjoy together, making cherished memories as you go. When it comes to Artificial Christmas Trees, the wide range we have will have you covered. Whether you're after a Snowy Christmas Tree show-stopper for your hallway, a perfectly Pre-lit Christmas Tree for your living room, or a marvellous Mini Christmas Tree for smaller spaces, our Artificial Christmas Tree Guide is sure to help you find the tree you’ve been pining for!
Christmas Tree Skirts
Christmas Tree Stands often aren't the prettiest things to look at and you may find that it distracts you from your beautiful decorating. However, this can easily be disguised by adding a Christmas Tree Skirt. Our range of Christmas Tree Skirts are suitable for both real and Artificial Christmas Trees and are able to compliment your décor beautifully, whether you want to match it to your white or gold Christmas Tree Lights, or want to tie it into your nature inspired theme, we have you covered.
Fluffing Your Tree
An integral part of setting up your Artificial Christmas Tree is making sure it is 'fluffed' properly - taking it from being average to becoming a show-stopper. Depending on the size of your tree, it should take you around 45 minutes to thoroughly fluff and shape your Christmas Tree, starting with the lower branches and those closest to the central pole and working your way outwards. The trick is to move each tip on the branch upwards or to the side to appear like a peacocks tail, making sure that the direction of the tip in front differs to the one behind to ensure that the tree's 'trunk' is hidden. It is worthwhile noting that if you are fluffing a larger tree, that each section can be fluffed before attaching together to save you wobbling around on a ladder. Continue to take your time fluffing each branch as you work your way up to the top of the tree, taking the time to step back and view your work from afar, as this is often where you may notice gaps or too many branches directed the same way. Well, now it's time to decorate...
Christmas Lights
No matter what colour, length or style you choose, Christmas Lights will always elevate your decorations and if you're anything like me, you'll want them strung all around the inside and outside of your home. Whether you want to make a statement with dazzling Cluster Lights, add some intense light to your Christmas Tree with closely spaced Compact Lights or just want to add a hint of sparkle with traditional String Lights, our handy Christmas Lights Guide has you covered. The colour of your lights can also be integral in tying together your theme. Warm White Lights fill your home with a warm and cosy glow, whilst Cool White Lights are perfect for enhancing a winter wonderland theme. Multi-Coloured Lights have also been making a comeback in recent years, sure to put a smile on your face as they fill your home with fun and festive colour. With so many styles, colours and lengths to choose from, our guide makes it simple and takes away any guesswork, because who wants to delay getting into the festive spirit.
Decide On Your Theme
Once you have strung your lights, it's time for my favourite part, decorating. Get Decorating
It's time to get creative, add Christmas Tinsel, Ribbon or Beads to add texture and depth to your tree. If you are opting for a simpler look with your Christmas Baubles and Hanging Decorations, this can be where you add a pop of colour or sparkle. It also helps to create the appearance of a fuller base to add to. Now, to add your baubles and favourite ornaments. Combining a mixture of large and small baubles on your tree creates a striking, yet beautiful layered appearance whilst also helping to disguise any gaps that you may have missed while fluffing your tree. Additionally, Clips and Picks and Stems and Sprays are fantastic for disguising sparse areas however they can also enhance your theme beautifully.
